The K-1 Japan Grand Prix took place this weekend on Sunday in Fukuoka Japan. Having made a sucessfull K-1 debut in April by defeating Yusuke Fujimoto Teixera entered the main tounrament draw in an attempt to earn a place in K-1 Final 16 Tournament set to take place in August.
Teixera's first match up was Japanese kickboxer Tsutomu Takahagi whom he dispatched within the first round a to the chin. Into the semi final and Teixera's next opponent would be Tsuyoshi Nakasako. Despite Teixera's persistent pounding of Nakasako's legs the fight went the distance with Teixera getting a unanimous decision. The second win put him into the final where he would face his third japanese fighter Keijiro Maeda. Again the fight went the distance and again Teixera was awarded a unanimous decision from the judges securing his place in K-1 Final 16 and presumably a match up against one of the more established k-1 fighters.
