Ewerton Teixera's K-1 Debut
The current world IKO-1 Heavyweight Karate champion Ewerton Teixeira has become the next in a prestigious list of Brazilian Kyokushin fighters to join the K-1 circuit, under the guidance of former Kyokushin world champion and K-1 legend Francisco Filho. Teixeira faced K-1 verteran Yukseki Fujimoto on 13th April 2008 at the Fields K-1 in Yokohama event.
Teixera dispatched his opponent with a KO in the second extra round of a tentative but promising Debut. Teixera is now scheduled in to fight in his first proper K-1 tournament on 29th June 2008 at the Fields K-1 GP in Fukuoka. If he manages to win all three fights in a row he will secure a place in the knockout tournament at the end of the year where he will have to face one of the established K-1 stars in an attempt to gain entry to the grand final and a shot at the title at the Tokyo Dome.
