British Open Knockdown Results

Well done to the fighters from Bethnal Green who took part in the British Open this weekend. We had four fighters competing, and first up was Steve, his first knockdown fight, and in the novice men's lightweight. Steve came out strong and seemed to be winning after the first round, however unfortunately lost on a decision at the end of the second round to a more experience fighter. Taf was also competing in the novice mens light weight and again came out strong landing plenty of the trade mark east end lowkicks! His power proved too much for his opponent as eventually he dropped him with a punch to the stomach. Taf went through to the final were after three rounds of brutal fighting he lost on a decision.

Next up in the main draw were Darren Chan (lightweight) and Kenny Jarvis (middleweight). Darren's first fight didn't last long as he landed a series of brutal techniques knocking his opponent from one side of the mat to the other. Clearly overwhelmed his opponent let his guard down opening up a gap for a jodan ushiro-geri and a knockout mid way through the first round. Darrens second fight wasn't over as quickly as his first fight - it was even quicker, 79 seconds into the fight a jodan hiza dropped his opponent to the canvas ending the fight. Unfortunately Darren agrivated a previous injury to his hand forcing him to withdraw from the tournament taking third place trophy and th fastest knockout cup.

Rocking up to the mat in the middleweights was the veteran Kenny Jarvis. In short Kenny saw off all comers including a huge pile of wood in the breaking to take the British title for a prestigious third time! Well done Kenny!

A massive thanks to Noddy for all his hard work in preparing the fighters and also to our spectators who came to support us!
